Ia orana from the Heart of French Polynesia
On Monday 8 April our Senior Wharekura welcomed a group of Special Visitors from Raiātea, from the French Polynesian Islands of Tahiti. As a Wharekura we are privileged and humbled to have welcomed such esteemed visitors with the objective of building a relationship between our Wharekura and Tahiti.
Tainui waka has history that speaks of Tahiti and particularly Raiātea, where the Tainui Canoe departed before stopping over in Avarua Rarotonga, and eventually making it’s final landfall here in Aotearoa at Kāwhia.
Our Tahitian Guests, overwhelmed by the magnitude of manaakitanga and aroha, shown by our Wharekura and by the warmth and caring embrace given by our Pūtake o Te Riri Crew. We wish them a safe journey while here in Aotearoa and we do sincerely hope that they return again soon. Allowing us again to show our Tahitian family the warmth and love of our Wharekura.
Mauruuru Roa
