Our Sports Academy students recently had the incredible opportunity to attend a Waikato Gallagher Chiefs training session and experience what life is like within a professional rugby environment.

During the visit, our tauira were able to watch the Chiefs complete their full morning gym routine, giving them an insight into the preparation, discipline, and hard work required at an elite level. Students then had the chance to join in on parts of the field training session alongside the players, learning valuable skills around teamwork, communication, and professionalism.

To finish the experience, our students stayed to watch the Chiefs captain’s run ahead of their upcoming match, which gave them a behind-the-scenes look at how professional teams prepare for game day.

The day was an inspiring and memorable experience for everyone involved. Our tauira represented the kura with pride, respect, and enthusiasm, and were outstanding ambassadors throughout the visit.

A huge thank you to the Waikato Gallagher Chiefs players and staff for welcoming our students and providing such a special opportunity. Experiences like these continue to motivate and inspire our young athletes as they pursue their sporting and personal goals.
