South Waikato Senior A Premiership Winners

Our senior boys basketball team competed in the South Waikato Senior A premiership competition in term two. This was our first time entering the competition as a senior team so there was a momentous task ahead of us. We set a goal to make the top 4 in this competition, we worked hard all term toward this goal and succeeded.

Moving forward the next goal was to make the final and standing in our way in the semis was a very fast and unpredictable Matamata senior A team who we had beaten once and lost to once. This game was the highlight of the season and we were fortunate enough to fight through a tough game and come out on top which sent us to the finals for the South Waikato Senior A premiership title against an unbeaten Taumarunui Senior A team.

We had nothing to lose and went into the game with that attitude, work hard, trust in us and whatever happens is because of us.

The game was really close until the final quarter where our boys took the effort up a level and we ended up beating Taumarunui to win the entire championship in our first year as seniors.

We are very proud of our boys and look forward to starting term 3 in a much tougher Rotorua basketball competition which takes place every week on Thursday nights in Rotorua.
